After I unfortunately missed out to Christian, I decided to make at least something from the evening and arranged myself with Eun-Sun for dinner. We had planned nothing special, but because we find both hanok and mountains great we went as usual to Samcheongdong, my favorite neighborhood here. Around every corner a villa, a Hanok property or good restaurant, usually all three.

We found the restaurant where I've eaten in Korea the best. The exact location I do not know but it is on the road up to Samcheonggak in a curve, not to be overlooked.

The restaurant is - as in Korea are very common - named after the specialty of the house. In earthenware in lotus water pickled duck meat.

On the menu are only 5 dishes. 3 variants duck meat, once every three varieties, and a special preparation of a whole duck Korean herbs, but with 3 hours notice must be reserved.

We decided for the "All" version, which means three different varieties of duck meat. It should prove to be helpful that Eun-Sun came from the ballet and I had not eaten lunch, because everything is made of:

first Saenggogi Ori - fresh duck, that is not loaded, but just sheer flesh. Tastes very entig, approximately as we know from the Chinese is a little tough when it has too long on the grill, it tastes really like the Chinese.

The side dishes were all in itself an unexpected experience. I had not eaten kimchi apart from the side dishes offered so far. Even the garnish with fresh spinach tasted different then dressed sharp, intense, crisp than usual

addition there was one species in garlic and ginger, pickled gherkins, which were so succulent that each piece was a delight. Not to despise was the pickled radish, which was by the light pink water are cute - even if I do not know what was this water. But probably the same lotus water we used was for the ducks.

A special highlight was also the fresh cabbage salad that was dressed with an incredibly good vinaigrette.

There was also to wrap the duck pieces of 5 different leaf varieties: arugula, kale, sesame leaf, an herb that I did not know and regular salad.

We had been wondering why rice costs extra, now we should learn it:
The rice came in the version with all sorts of delicious inside. Gingko nuts, Süßkartoffelstücke, Asian date, peas, red beans, ginseng, etc. were in the purple rice, which is colored by red beans so and get an even richer taste.

Conclusion One of the top 3 Korean restaurants I have ever been. Both duck and side dishes, even the rice was very special, each in itself an extravagant taste and price, although in Samcheongdong, not too high. I do not recommend this restaurant only warmly I pray almost in your own interest to go there.
